Delivery Manager

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Delivery Manager with Fleet experinence to join the team with our prestigious client at their site in Faslane, this role is on-site full time Mon – Thu 8am -4.30pm & Fri 8am-1pm

Job Description:

To lead, develop and direct a team of 50 – 75 employees, including Delivery Co-ordinators and Industrial workers to achieve their part of the project and all operations business performance metrics (Safety, cost, schedule, quality) (AC17, AC26)

Work with the Fleet Programme Team to define and detail the work required to deliver each activity, therefore the content of each Manageable Task and schedule activities to remove conflicts.

Work with Fleet Programmes and Delivery Ashore Teams to develop and manage demand profiles for internal resources and external subcontractors to satisfy project requirement and any changes within the project. (AC12)

Work with the Delivery (Ashore) Manager and Delivery Co-ordinators to actively promote and manage team development and to manage performance of the Delivery team.

Apply technical expertise and ensure quality standards are achieved across the project and ensure that Learning From Experience is shared across the Delivery and Fleet Programme teams, through effective team working and/or sharing of resource. (AC28)

Demonstrate effective progress reporting and communications for all levels of the project, ensuring Fleet Programmes receive weekly and monthly updates.

Promote a safety culture and compliance with all Company Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation in line with ISO standards.

Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships across all key interfaces e.g.: HS&E, Resourcing, QA, Sub-contractors, ships staff

Create and maintain an environment of continuous quality, process improvement and employee participation within their delivery team, with a focus on developing and employing standardised systems and processes throughout and across projects. (AC28)

Expected to manage work packages that would cover Nuclear Repair, Mechanical, Electrical, Combat Systems, Shipwrights and fabrication across all surface ships and nuclear powered vessels.

Works on a number of different tasks on a daily basis or can be involved in complex tasking taking several days or weeks to complete. Responsible for the delivery of work packages in complex engineering projects ranging in size of 20k – 100k man hours and 4 – 50 week duration.

Projects often operate continuously on a 24/7 basis as and when necessary and agreed. This may include support to RN vessels abroad. 

Lead and manage a multi-trade team for the delivery of Fleet Engineering work packages. Ensuring delivery of objectives in terms of HSE Regulations, nuclear safety, cost, time and quality requirements. Using technical capability to plan and schedule programmes of work which include nuclear, mechanical, electrical and weapons activities.

Manage safe systems of work and safety culture on board RN vessels. This including teams working at heights, within confined spaces and within radiological controlled areas. Possess the ability to deconflict work packages to ensure safe delivery.

Provision of management oversight to ensure that engineering methods of best practice are maintained and that the necessary process and procedures are adhered to.  

To demonstrate a knowledge of mechanical, electrical and weapons systems in addition to the operation of the nuclear steam raising plant.

Stakeholder / Customer engagement and influencing with PGM, Ship Staff, SUBFLOT, Design Authority, Technical Authority, Contractor management and other Babcock Business Units.

Apply logical thinking to resolve conflicting operational priorities and maintenance requirements and any limitations arising.

Review of complex engineering documentation and participation in extensive technical discussions covering many engineering disciplines and specialist subject matters with respect to solving challenging technical problems.

Analysis of situations, events or processes to identify shortfalls and weaknesses in working practices. The post
What knowledge, training and experience is required to do the job e.g. knowledge of systems, processes, operational or soft skills etc.?  
The Delivery Manager requires a broad breadth of knowledge with a good awareness of engineering principles including nuclear engineering; mechanical and electrical engineering systems and equipment; and support functions such as scaffolding and slinging.

Fully conversant with the business of the Fleet Engineering Department.
Competent and experienced in complex Fleet Engineering work packages, procedures and processes.

T, A and V Class systems
Maintenance, diagnosis, repair and replacement of submarine and surface ship systems and equipment, either in-situ or in workshop

holder is expected to develop and implement recommendations to address shortfalls and address this at LFE sessions in order to deliver change and continuous improvement.

Recognising the restricted nature of the work  there is a requirement for the candidate to be eligible to obtain Security Clearance for this role.
