We are recruiting for an Electrical Planning Engineer for one of our automotive clients based in Cranfield.
You will be working for a globally recognised automotive company.
This is a long-term contract role. The contract is on an ongoing basis a may run for several years.

Key Responsibilities of the Electrical Planning Engineer:

• Electrical project management team, who oversee the design and development of the vehicles electrical systems at a feature or sub-system level, depending on project needs.
• To manage the quality and the development schedule for the electrical parts on the vehicle.
• Collate KPI from all electrical design teams and present information during electrical & electronic (EE) milestone meetings.
• Electrical concern management, mediate and assist in analysis of difficult concerns.
• Working closely with electrical R&D teams, manufacturing sites and project teams to gather feedback in preparation for EE milestones.
• Scheduling EE project milestones and preparing risk assessments based on project master schedule and EE content.
• Prepare and issue the necessary documentation to the EE teams according to the project schedules.
• Preparation of EE project milestone presentations based on standard templates and KPI data gathered.
• Strong analytical skills to be able to review and challenge data.
• Concern management utilising tools such as JIRA.
• General understanding of vehicle development process and electrical architecture of vehicles.
• Great communicator with experience of coordinating electrical engineering project activities to get buy-in from stakeholders.
• Strong administration skills to control all project documentation.
• Attention to detail with clear and precise reporting skills and the ability to present confidently.
• Where appropriate, propose and support with knowledge sharing and process improvement activities within the department, utilising database, or web-based tools.

Qualifications & Experience for the Electrical Planning Engineer:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline
• Competent with PC applications such as MS Office
• Valid driving license
• 3 years relevant experience in automotive industry
• Knowledge of electrical theory and electronic devices
• Knowledge of hardware and software development processes
• Project management experience
• Knowledge of vehicle communication protocols such as CAN and Ethernet. CAN and Ethernet analysis tools (e.g. CANalyser) and vehicle diagnostics.
• Knowledge of database management tool (such as MS Access) and some programming knowledge would be beneficial.
• Experience in concern management tools such as JIRA.
• Ability to travel within the UK and internationally to suppliers, plants, global R&D centre’s etc. on an infrequent basis.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with excellent communication and project management skills.

Hours & Pay for the Electrical Planning l Engineer:

• Monday to Friday
• 39 hours per week
• £27.00p/h
