Commissioning Manager

Role: Commissioning Manager
Location: Derby
Job Type: Permanent

We are looking to strengthen our team with a project specific commissioning manager based at Witches Oak.
You will report directly to the project director and your role will cover the planning and execution of testing and setting into service this major new works.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Manage a team of multiskilled engineers and operatives on a day to basis making efficient and effective use of their respective skills.
• Identify any skill gaps within the team in good time for recruitment as necessary
• Ensure that the highest standards of safety and welfare are maintained at all times.
• Work with internal and external designers to ensure all features and facilities required for successful commissioning are identified and incorporated to minimise late change/retro work.
• Fully engage with site construction and installation teams to ensure good communication and team integration.
• Attend or delegate responsibility for attendance at offsite witness testing of equipment at suppliers works throughout the UK.
• Contribute to the planning and coordination of installation and testing of multiple sub contractor process packages as stand alone entities.
• Lead the Planning and Integration of multiple process package plants with each other and the works as a whole, including the communications necessary with offsite elements at the raw water source and alarms control centre.
• Engage and communicate effectively to resolve logistical and technical issues with suppliers and third party stake holders.
• Maintaining an up to date status of progress using BIM360 (ITP), Inspection test plan.
• Utilisation of digital tools 4D simulations to inform stake holders of plans and progress
• Co-ordination of the provision of multiple services (Water, waste disposal, drainage, power, chemical, etc) to facilitate prolonged 24hr proving trials.
• Organisation of the operation and maintenance of new assets prior to adoption/handover to the client.
• Devise testing methods to demonstrate compliance with pre-defined success criteria (develop detailed risk assessments and method statements for each).
• Arranging witnessing and formal client acceptance of specific compliance tests.
• Training of the clients staff.
• Collection and collation of operating and maintenance regimes for specific plant items and the works as a whole including as commissioned settings and adjustments that could be readily altered or adjusted.
• Ensure the SCADA system mimics and communications are developed and maintained in co-ordination with the process package HMIs, graphical appearance, measure units, trend scaling, set point tables and input fields all need to be maintained, any developments/changes deemed necessary in the field are to be reflected on the SCADA and Visa versa.
• Maintenance of a daily operating and maintenance log book recording problems encountered, resolutions, adjustments and progress from the time the plant goes into 24hr operation until handover, this logbook will form a part of the handover pack.
• Production of _outstanding work lists_ and _commissioning completion reports_.

• Committed and tenacious, willing to take responsibility and ownership of problems and prepared to go the extra mile to find a resolution.
• Experience of delivering large clean water process plant, preferably within the Severn Trent region.
• Recent responsibility of managing a multiskilled team of up to 10 members.
• Practical ability to get _hands on_ when necessary, comfortable _doing the do_ as well as
• Time served apprenticeship in Electrical, Mechanical or Process plant environment
• HNC/HND or equivalent in electrical, mechanical or process engineering
• SMSTS
• IOSH managing safely in construction
